Bio Security Queensland

The Torres Strait is one of the most stunning and ecologically unique places in the world. But it’s also vulnerable. With big neighbours to the north and south this fragile island network is constantly at risk from invasive pests and diseases hitching a ride on cars boats shoes and even camping gear.

Our job? Help stop them in their sneaky little tracks.

Working with the Department of Agriculture Fisheries and Forestry we created an animated explainer to share one simple truth:  Biosecurity is everyone’s responsibility. But rather than rolling out another lecture we grounded the story in the rhythm of the islands. The script was written in plain language voiced by a local Torres Strait Islander and opened with a culturally respectful message in line with community protocols.

The animation tapped into familiar references like Warup and inter-island travel and showed how the simplest everyday actions can protect Country lifestyle and culture. Whether it’s checking your car for ants cleaning your shoes or inspecting your pot plants the message was simple and clear take care of what you carry.

The result was a warm local and practical campaign that landed with island audiences and mainland agencies alike.
